Blackfield website live The new Blackfield website is now up and running, including audio samples from the forthcoming "Welcome to My DNA" album. Go here. Blackfield is the collaborative project between Steven Wilson of PT and Israeli songwriter Aviv Geffen, and this is their third album together.

PT at the polls Thanks to everyone who voted for PT in the readers poll in Classic Rock Presents Prog magazine. PT was picked as Best Band, Anethestize was No.3 Best DVD, and the band's night at the Albert Hall was picked as the 4th best Event of the Year. Richard Barbieri topped the Best Keyboard Player poll, whilst SW and Colin Edwin both came in at number 3 in Best Guitarist and Best Bassist categories respectively. Gavin grabbed the No.2 spot as Best Drummer, the same as SW in Best Male Vocalist category. Proving you can't keep a good icon down, SW was voted Prog Icon 2010 having won the title previously in 2009! As if all that wasn't quite enough, the SW-produced King Crimson 40th Anniversary editions were voted as Best Reissue, and the SW mixed We're Here Because We're Here by Anathema took the No.2 slot for Best Album. Elsewhere the magazine features an extensive 8-page spread about the band and interviews with everyone.

New Ex-Wise Heads album "Schemata" is the 6th full length album by the band and sees the duo of Colin Edwin and (former Henry Cow member) Geoff Leigh explore some darker and more primal elements than earlier recordings. Accessible and absorbing, just over an hour of new music showcases the duo's ever developing fascination with soundscapes, minimalism, atmospherics, unusual instrumentation and exotic rhythmic patterns around the core elements of Colin Edwin's forceful bass playing and Geoff Leigh's fearless and spontaneous flute and saxophone solos. Rick Edwards (who has also guested previously with No-Man and many years ago on Porcupine Tree's Moonloop) adds percussion and Rajan Spolia contributes his inimitable raga like acoustic guitar work to the nine minute closing track "Breathing to Forget" To celebrate the release of the album, until March 1st, all the previous Ex-Wise Heads CD's, Geoff Leigh's "Mirage" project albums and Colin Edwin's solo CD "Third Vessel" will be specially priced at £7 each, with also reduced prices on downloads. Delerium box set 28th February will see the release of a box set on Esoteric / Cherry Red documenting Delerium Records, the label set up by Richard Allen at the start of the 90's to cater for Richard's love of psychedelic music. Among the very first signings to the label were Porcupine Tree, who released 4 studio albums on the label between 1992-96. "The Last Daze of the Underground" is a 3 CD box set that includes the rare short version of "Radioactive Toy" (different intro and guitar solo), and the title track of Signify, as well as tracks from many of the other bands that released music on Delerium Records, and a detailed booklet containing the history of the label. Richard Allen: "I'd ideally like everyone to make an effort and support a local independent music retailer, since if it wasn't for those kinds of outlets Delerium Records would never have existed. Failing that , and despite the fact they are offshore avoiding tax (to the detriment of the surviving UK independent retailers) buy it from HMV.com and help support the last UK music retail chain, without whom the high street will be a very bleak place. As a last resort get it from Amazon….."

PT App PT are in the process of developing an official App for iPhone and iPad for release around Feb/March (and maybe later also for Android). It's heading towards being something quite unique, watch this space for more news soon...

Anesthetize best DVD in Classic Rock PT's Anesthetize has been awarded DVD of the year by the critics of Classic Rock Presents Prog magazine. Also in the top 5 were Lasse Hoile's film about SW "Insurgentes" at no 3, and No-Man Mixtaped at no 5. The award for best album went to the SW mixed Anathema comeback album "We're Here Because We're Here". And just a reminder that for December only the Anesthetize DVD is available on sale for only £6 at the PT Store as part of the Christmas sale.
